Its substantial stainless steel case, black dial and characteristic first-generation Planet Ocean design create a watch that still looks excellent almost two decades after its introduction. The Planet Ocean collection was introduced in 2005 and was strongly rooted in Omega's diving heritage from the beginning. The first generation already offered 600 metres of water resistance, a helium escape valve and Co-Axial technology. Therefore, it was conceived as a genuine professional diver. This Big Size version measures an impressive 45.5 mm in diameter. It is clearly intended for a larger wrist and offers considerable presence. At the same time, the proportions of the first generation keep the watch more balanced than many later Planet Ocean models. One of the major advantages of this generation is its construction around Calibre 2500. The movement allowed Omega to maintain a relatively slim case for a professional 45.5 mm dive watch. Consequently, it offers strong wrist presence without becoming excessively tall. The black dial provides excellent legibility. Large hour markers, broad hands and characteristic Arabic numerals at 6, 9 and 12 perfectly match the purposeful design. In addition, the date display is discreetly positioned at 3 o'clock. A black unidirectional diving bezel completes the look. Meanwhile, the helium escape valve positioned at 10 o'clock remains one of the most recognisable design features of the Planet Ocean collection. Inside beats the automatic Omega Calibre 2500 with Co-Axial escapement. The movement is chronometer certified and provides approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Furthermore, it operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz. For me, Calibre 2500 is one of the strongest features of this generation. It combines proven Co-Axial technology with significantly more traditional case proportions than many later Planet Ocean references. The watch also features a screw-down crown, helium escape valve and impressive water resistance to 600 metres. Therefore, despite its versatile appearance, it remains a genuine professional dive watch. Reference 2900.50.37 was originally catalogued with a brown alligator leather strap and stainless steel folding clasp. This particular example is currently fitted with a rubber strap, which gives it an even more purposeful diving character. This example dates from 2007. Moreover, it was originally delivered through Polish authorised retailer W.KRUK, adding an interesting element to the history of this particular watch. It comes complete with all original Omega boxes and documents dated 2007. Condition is very good. There are only minor signs of wear, mainly light surface hairlines. The case retains attractive, well-defined edges.
