Cartier was founded in Paris by Louis-Francois Cartier, son of a powder horn maker. The year was 1847; just four short years later, Napoleon III came to power and through Countess Nieuwerkerke, the young Cartier was able to become a supplier to the court, selling Empress Eugenie a silver tea service in 1859. In the same year, Cartier rented quarters on the Boulevard des Italiens in what was then the most fashionable neighborhood in Paris. In 1874, Cartier's son Alfred took over the business and expanded it considerably. That included watches, which Louis-Francois had only dabbled in. In 1899, Alfred's son Louis Cartier entered the firm. Louis Cartier was a great lover of mechanical pocket watches and wanted the company to build its own watches.

Cartier rose to the challenge, designing a flat wristwatch with a distinctive square bezel. This watch was not only a hit with Santos-Dumont, but also with Cartier's many clients. Thus, out of this timeless design, the "Santos" was born. This was the first men's wristwatch (Patek Phillipe made the first wristwatch, but for a woman and as a one-off).

Nj, jenze Santos udelal az jeho syn, kterej se narodil v roce 1875 Kazdopadne, opravdu to byly prvni PANSKE naramkove hodinky

A ted jsem si vsiml, ze utrejch psal to "PANSKE," coz jsem prehledl a za chybu se omlouvam

Cartier zakladatel fusoval jenom do kapesnich hodinek. No proste mit na Santos 100, bylo by tezke se odpoutat od PP Nautilus. Jeste ze takovy problem nemusim resit.

Já myslím, že první náramkové hodinky byly sluneční a vypadaly nějak takto:

sem koukal že podle váhy a současné ceny zlata by se dali prodat za cca 24000,- Někdo je třeba zlatej vlastenec?

Hasňa: V hodinkách češtiny si dával asi velký pozor, to nutno přiznat. Tvé obraty jsou skutečně originální, často i pobaví, všímám si ovšem jednoho poznatku. Za každou cenu musíš mit pravdu a poslední slovo - připomínáš mi jednu humornou scénku s nynějším p. prezidentem -

 

Občas je fajn zvolnit, zasmát se, nebýt vážný... Možná to i umíš, ale tady Ti to moc nejde...

 

Konec debat o Cartieru, jsou to prostě boží hodinky a abych všem skalním fandům na fóru udělal radost, přísahám, že pokud na ně někdy budu mít, stanu se jejich hlavním příznivcem a budu na ně už navždy pjet ódy...

Edit : A ještě sebekriticky musím přiznat, že mé znalosti ze znalosti pilotních hodinek jsou chabé, vlastně nejen ty... Moc bych si přál, abych se Tobě, člověku tak neskonale moudrému, mohl přiblížit.

 

Hned si jdu přečíst nějakou tu moudrou encyklopedii, vlastně my půjdem oba, já i Biges... Ti dva největší neználci, ba dokonce blbci, kteří se opovážili vyřknout jiný názor na takový klenot. Že já to, huba nevymáchaná, vůbec vyřkl, někaké Omegy a Rolexky pro masy, pche, Cartier - to jsou ty nejlepší hodinky...

 

 

 

Jinak chtěl bych vidět letecké hodinky z roku 1904, když první letadlo (nepočítám kluzáky) se odlepilo na chvilku od země až koncem roku 1903. Záleží co se bere jako pilotní hodinky, jestli jakékoli hodinky, které měli na rukou první letci nebo hodinky vyvíjené přímo ku létání pro armádní piloty (jednoduché, přehledné, robustní...). Já bych se přikláněl ke druhé variantě:-)

Jak vice letecke by jeste mely byt? Myslim ze Santosy jsou skutecne "jednoduché, přehledné, robustní...". Tedy v nicem neodporuji tvym pozadavkum na letecke hodinky. :-) Zuzovat pojem leteckych hodinek na pouhe B-Uhren by myslim byla skoda.
