SIHH 2016: Baume & Mercier Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar

 

 

 

A first look at a 2016 release from Baume & Mercier, the Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar. This new piece will make a nice addition to the collection thanks to its combination of chronograph functions and complete calendar (day, date, month, moon phase) brought together in a thoughtfully arranged dial.

Since the debut launch of the Clifton collection in 2013 (which Perpetuelle was the first to report on in November 2012), Baume & Mercier has steadily added to the range which largely runs in the accessible $2,850 to $6,500 price range, making it accessible to many luxury consumers. But there have also been higher end models such as a Clifton tourbillon (2014) and a Clifton manual wind 8-day power reserve model, to name a couple. This is yet another elegant and useful addition to the collection.

 

43mm x 12mm steel case, automatic mechanical caliber (Valjoux 7751 base) with chornograph and calendar functions, on alligator strap with triple folding clasp

 

 

 

Up top, the day of week and month apertures are neatly embedded within the chronograph minute counter. At 6 o?clock, the moonphase sits within the chronograph hour counter. The center-set chronograph seconds hand is in a vivid blue color, visually coordinated with the chronograph hour and minutes subdial indicators. A 24h indicator sits at 9 o?clock. The date ring runs around the outer edge of the dial, as marked by the center-set, red tipped hand.

As a ?complete calendar? the mechanics of the watch automatically adjust the date for 30- and 31-day months, requiring the calendar to be adjusted only once per year, at the end of February. A very useful complication.

Uz som na nich niekde na webe narazil. Priemer 43 mm je uz celkom dost. Ale to je jedine, co im mozem vytknut. Krasne hodinky, pre mna vrchol rady Clifton.

Škoda že obvodovou stupnici zabrala zrovna datumka, průhled a ty šroubky v dýnku nic moc, chválim ten vypočítanej kalendář, moc užitečný, designově si myslim, že jim na kráse hodně ubírají ty obrázky a v reálu to bude o něčem jiném. A jestli by se mi líbily na ruce? Tak to určitě.

Ano,43mm je dost. Jinak velka konkurence moonphase chronu z master collection od longines -imho se mi tyhle libi vic

Ono se to zdá, že 43 je moc, ve skutečnosti je to v pohodě. Mám starší model a velikost je úplně v pohodě.

43 budou pěkný, čitelný, nebudou díky komplikacím vypadat jako prázdnej talíř ... ale vždy zůstane otázka číslo 1 ... velikost ruky. Na tu mojí 195 mm by určitě padly ... kde že se právě motá ten Ježíšek?
