Kde se dají koupit tyto krásné knížky? Manželka se ptala, co chci k vánocům..ta bude koukat až potom rozbalím hodinky, cha cha. Anebo možná já, až mě vezme pánvičkou přes držku :-)

Za me safir ne, rusi me tam to usazeni safiru, takovou sedou svatozar to tam dela. Navic hesalit mnohem vic vydrzi nez safir, pokud dojde na narazy, nemyslim skrabance.
Sendvic moony jsou takovy kanclvesmirny, ty jako cestovalej jsi mel zvolit hesalit/plny dynko a velcro. Ale jestli je mas k doutniku a kafi, tak okay

Tak to jsi mě uklidnil :-) Já osobně mám se safírem jen ty nejlepší zkušenosti, takže se ho nebojím. No a ten průhled na kalibr, včera jsem koukal na YouTube deset minut jak se tam ta kolečka krásně točí, wow, prostě ho musím mít :-) Samozřejmě mě to také trochu mrzí a dost dlouho nad tím přemýšlel že jsem uhnul z původní verze, ale myslím že se s tím brzy smířím.

Vono nejlepci kombinace je dneska uz nevyrabena reference 3572.50, ta mela pruhled na kolecka a nahore hesalit. Kdysi jsem o ni uvazoval a porad ji mam kdes vzadu na wishlistu.

A Tale of Sapphire vs. Hesalite

We all know that this has been a commonly discussed topic here, and this post is not meant to begin another lengthy and superfluous discussion of the issue. I just want to share my experience with these two models of the Omega Speedmaster, so that anyone in the future trying to make this decision can consider (or ignore) my perspective, in addition to the myriad views already expressed on this wonderful forum.

To start, I will admit that I am a little bit status conscious when it comes to watch crystals: if a watchdoesn?t have sapphire on it, I feel it is a little less?prestigious, for lack of a better word. I know this is silly and superficial and snobbish. I have owned many, many Seikos, and most of them have had hardlex, and that has been just fine (and is even more appropriate on a diver for shatter resistance), and I have also owned vintage watches with plastic crystals. But I still somehow regarded all these watches as ?lesser? due to the crystal. 

So that was my bias, and I regarded the sapphire version of the Speedy Pro (the 3573.50) as a grail watch. Still, when it came time to buy a Speedy, my budget dictated I start with the 3570.50, and then ?move up? at some point.

When I got the 3570.50, I was in love right away. Everything about the watch was spectacular: the lines, the bracelet, the dial, the?. we all know why this watch is awesome, so no need to go on. Not to mention the lunar street cred: I loved telling people that this watch was basically the same exact watch that went to the moon, and that it was still flight certified by NASA. I even found myself digging the hesalite: I liked the way the light refracted and distorted the face at certain angles, the wrist profile the dome gave the watch, the warmth of the crystal and the way it deepened the tone of the dial, the vintage feel and the uniqueness of an essentially acrylic crystal on a watch in modern production ? after all, my love of watches started with vintage pieces, and here was a vintage watch frozen in time that had lingered into the present. 

But over time, I began to grow discontented with the hesalite. I would look down and wish for sapphire. I didn?t like the way the hesalite reflected the light at certain angles. I wanted to see the movement, as I would through the exhibition back on the 3573.50. I was using the watch as a daily wearer and with sapphire it seemed somehow?.?lesser? as I said above. Also (and this is petty), it began to bug me that a watch this expensive had a plastic crystal in it. (I mean, when you think about the price point of the 3570.50, it does seem a little ridiculous. It?s not like Omega has poured a ton of money into research and development over the years; they have been making the same watch for 40 years, and the cost of production has probably gone down while the cost of the watch has gone up. But hey, that?s the marketplace and branding and how capitalism works.)

So when I had a little money to spare I sold the 3570.50 to a guy at work (who could not have been happier) and picked up a Sapphire Sandwich. At last here was a watch that seemed to have everything I wanted: the looks of the Speedy with the luxury of the sapphire crystal and an exhibition back. I was thrilled, but also surprised how the sapphire changed the experience of wearing the watch. First of all, and I don?t know how else to describe this, it seemed somehow ?shinier? and much more dressy. I was also far more careful of the crystal, since repairing scratches was going to be much more difficult than with the hesalite. In short, it felt less rugged, and less like the sports watch it essentially is. But this did not really bother me?.at first.

Then I caught a glimpse of my old Speedy on the wrist of my work colleague, and suddenly I began to miss all the things I loved about the hesalite. The more I thought about it, the more I missed them, and missed the ?authenticity? of the one true Speedy Pro. As I studied the Sapphire Sandwhich, I found it cold and brittle somehow, lacking in personality and missing the vintage flavor of the 3570.50. The infamous milky ring around the crystal now bothered me, as did the contour of it, with its more drastic angles as opposed to the smooth dome of the hesalite. I discovered that I rarely looked at the movement through the exhibition back, and missed the feel of the steel back on my skin, as well as its handsome engraving. In short, I wanted my old, rugged Moon Watch back.

So I have traded the 3573.50 back for a classic Speedy Pro. It comes in tomorrow, I hope. 

It seems absurd to suggest that life lessons come from this ridiculous hobby, but actually it continuously teaches me that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence, and that ?perfection? comes in various forms, not always limited to what is most expensive or prestigious.

This has only been my experience, of course. Yours may vary based on your personal taste.

Chlapík má za mě pravdu hlavně a jenom v tom, že si na to každý musí přijít sám :-) Já mám léty nošení různých značek v hlavě srovnáno, že mě ani moc nebolí škrábance, ťukance na pouzdře hodinek, ale co já prostě psychicky nedám je jakýkoliv škrábanec na skle, jsem tak trošku psychopat. Swatchky jsem drbal co týden, Suunta i přes to že jsou outdoor také nedávám, protože ty jsou vůbec dodrbaný, příště určitě v safíru, no a jak si pán tam libuje nad fajnovým hardlexem od Seika, tak mě jenom cuknul koutek, to je nejhorší hrůza co se na hodinky dá dát. Všechny své Seika jsem drbnul do roka a do dne, neopravitelná záležitost, no zlatý plast, tak nějak. Další věc, kupovat si hodinky se safírem, protože vypadají víc luxury, prestigous, shinery, cha, co je tohle za chujovinu, vždyť to je holá blbost, navíc když tam je pouze vnitřní antireflex. Za dlouhá léta nošení hodinek se safírem jsem nezaznamenal jediný škrabanec, proto moje volba, určitě ne proto, že vypadají více luxury :-) Asi bych to shrnul tak, pro fajnšmejkry hesalite, pro jelita jako jsem já, co jim vadí každý škrábaneček na skle, safír :-) Tož tak za mě....
